BAY_FRONT_CONSERVATION_ZONING
Bayfront conservation zoning is an overlay policy district attached to parcels within or near the jurisdiction of the Bay Conservation and Development Commission. Data extend over Assessor parcel boundaries in the unincorporated area of Marin County, California.
The Bayfront Conservation (-BFC) combining district is intended to regulate land and water uses, to:
1. Prevent destruction or deterioration of habitat and environmental quality;
2. Prevent further loss of public access to and enjoyment of the bayfront; 3. Preserve or establish view corridors to the bayfront;
4. Ensure that potential hazards associated with development do not endanger public health and safety; and
5. Maintain options for further restoration of former tidal marshlands.
Data are in California State Plane Zone III NAD 1983 HARN. Polygon geometry is topologically integrated with Parcel boundary lines.

Polygons are topologically integrated (contiguous) with Assessor parcel polygons.

Varies from + or - 5 feet up to + or - 50 feet.
Parcel boundaries were digitized from hard copy Assessor map pages into AutoCAD. Georeferencing was based on 400 scale mylar aerial photographs from 1976. Many Assessor map pages did not fit well together. In order to create a seamless layer, problem areas were stretched or compressed. Topology was created in AutoCAD and closed polygons were exported as an ESRI shapefile. This shapefile was imported into SDE to create the Parcel feature class.

Parcel boundaries are updated semiannually. New data are taken from accurately georeferenced AutoCAD drawings when possible. Topology is built in AutoCAD and updated parcel polygons are exported as an ESRI shapefile. Dead parcels are deleted from the Parcel Feature Class. New parcels are inserted into the Parcel Feature Class.
